Trade Agreements and Negotiations
Trade Agreements and Negotiations is a branch within the Department of Intergovernmental Affairs. It supports the Minister of Business, Mining, Trade and Job Creation through articulating and furthering Manitoba's interests in domestic and international trade negotiations and agreements.
Responsibilities include:
- Representing Manitoba at domestic and international trade negotiations
- Developing provincial policy for the negotiation and implementation of interprovincial and international trade agreements
- Ensuring Manitoba's priorities and concerns are reflected in trade negotiations through consultations with key stakeholders
- Working with occupational regulatory authorities and departments to ensure Manitoba's labour mobility obligations are met
- Providing updates on the status of agreements and negotiations to government, industry and civil society stakeholders
- Working with stakeholders and front line departments to defend Manitoba exporters and Manitoba programs in domestic and international trade disputes
