Regulating Food
Food production is regulated by provincial and federal governments. Production facilities require permits and registrations, and are inspected by government health officers.

Acts and Regulations

Processing and Distribution
- Provincial permitting and inspection is conducted by Health Officers from Manitoba Agriculture.
- Federal licensing and inspection applies to manufacturers who produce food products that are to be traded internationally or inter-provincially.

- Provincial permitting and inspection is conducted by Public Health Inspectors from Manitoba Health, Seniors and Long-Term Care.
- Health Protection Reports provide information on closures and convictions for provincially permitted food facilities.
